THE three days training on investigative internet journalism which conducted by Misa-Tan and facilitated by Peik Johansson, a Journalist from Finland was very useful to everyone attended the training.
It was a useful and skilful time for Journalists in Tanzania to enjoy and to fetch knowledge from Finland through Mr. Peik. We started the first day to understanding investigative journalism in wide angle.
Different definitions of investigative journalism were given out by all participants in their discussions, some said investigative is not only in negative side, but can be also in a positive way.
We also discussed whether facilitation to someone who want to give you some potential documents is corruption or not. We also concluded that investigative journalist should be very honest when doing his/her job.
We managed to visit various websites like WikiLeaks which founded by Julius Assange and other websites in the world. And we also open our own blogs and learn how to operate them.
The second day of training we looked about how to search information from the internet, we did some assignments like how to get TANAPA telephone number from the internet, the population of Iringa and the height of Mount Kilimanjaro.
In that day we also managed to visit some blogs and learn the different between those blogs, especially the comparison between Kenyan blogs and Tanzanian blogs.
We did some assignment about Wangari Maathai, Dambiso Moyo and Leila Lopes. We also learn about how to use Google engine, like how to get news, picture, video, map and other important things in the internet.
The last day we did a wonderful thing, we learn how to add other blogs in our blog address, we also learn about how to link to the original website if there is something in the text which need more details.
I recommend this training should be for one month or two, because of time we miss a lot of knowledge, we need to know much about Journalism, that we can manage to change our journalistic style in the country.
